Normal is so boring that I just dozed off while reading the definitions. I’ve never identified with the word, but I did go through a season when all I wanted was to be normal. Good thing I snapped out of it!
I want this category, ‘Normal is Boring’, to be a place on my website where you can come and feel absolutely reassured that you’re wonderfully unique. It’s dense for us to think that we’ve been created as individuals, but have to be identical to each other. We are individuals, each with originality and our own personality to share with others. By succumbing to trends, peer pressure, and the like we’re suggesting that our Creator didn’t know what He was doing when he first thought us into being. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to even toe that line.
Normal is boring.
I want to be clear. I’m not recommending that normal is bad. There are millions, if not billions, of people that are completely content with being normal. Fitting in a box, not making any splashes, nor ruffling any feathers is not bad… It’s just boring (to me). I want to think outside the box, execute a splash-tastic cannonball, and stuff all of those feathers into some pillows for an epic fight.
I want to be unique.
After thirty-something years I want to claim the label I’ve been trying to disguise. My thoughts may be off beat and my way off the beaten path, but that’s because my path is different than yours. We’ll see each other when our paths cross, and we might even walk a stretch side-by-side, but let’s be ourselves, following our own unique path.
