This week I conquered creating a business card! It may sound like a simple task, but being a creative soul I really wanted my cards to reflect my personality. The first question I present to you is, do you think a business card that is also a bookmark is a joke or genius?
I think there is a fine line between genius and gimmick in many cases, and while making my choice I struggled with the idea that I might be crossing that line. In addition to the size of the card, I wanted to create my own artwork. The pattern is wacky enough in black and white, but then I get cray and add four random colors. (Well, I don’t think their random, but you might if you don’t know me or my website.) Now, the question is, is this card enough to make you want to check out my website?
No matter how hard I try, a lot is left up to the person I hand my card to. I can pour my heart and soul onto a little piece of paper, but they may never give it a second look. I hope that I can grab the attention of my readers with the first few words printed in my novel, and that those words will leave the reader wanting to know more about my characters. I also want to present a card that makes a person want to know more about me.
Will I order a traditional size or bookmark size? Should it be a solid color, or maybe metallic? Will I tone it down, or make it flashy? I guess if you want to find out what I decide on, you’ll have to stop and ask me for my card!
Love the card! Like the bookmark and everything about it.
I think doing a card that’s out-of-the-box is genius, not joke. Love the bookmark idea. I think it would be less likely to get tossed. I must admit, however, that I realize this comes from a woman’s point of view. Not sure if my hubster would agree — he might prefer a card. But LOVE the random colors — that’s who you are… creative. Milk it! Sell it! Excited for what’s ahead with you!
